South Korea announced that the GE F414-GE-400 has been selected as the preferred bidder over the EJ200 for the KF-X program. GE will transfer manufacturing, maintenance and overhaul to Korea once the program is developed.
KF-X is the Korean attempt to build an advanced fighter indigenously to replace their F-4s and F-5s. KAI was selected as the preferred bidder to build the airframe last year. The first aircraft should be flying by 2026 and 120 aircraft built by 2032.
