With only 15 (now 14), yes that hurts.

Excuse me while I go cry. I was wondering if they were going to try and pull a NC19903 with it? Im sure it's still in better shape than most restos these days are when they start out.

It'll depend on how the major structures held up. She looked like she hit pretty hard. When NC19903 hit she didn't do a lot of damage. They did a great job putting her down.

According to the State Police the person lifted from the water may have been a swimmer trying to help. The pilot apparently had his foot trapped in the crash and couldn't get out. Divers were able to free it and recovered his body.

I smell lawsuit from the family members against the ones responsible for reporting in any official manner that the pilot made it out.

They had better restore it back to flight, or at least to display.
I have know idea who the pilot even is, but I'm willing to guess that he probably would have wanted something similar to happen, especially with such a priceless piece of hardware.

I'm not sure FAA regulations allow for full flight status after it's been in the water like this. They can put it in a museum or on display though.
