Paying attention to the slip in projected IOC of the JSTARS replacement aircraft, Congress has recently directed the AF to examine ways to speed up the procurement of new aircraft to reach IOC sooner. Congress wants the AF to present possible options by December, presumably to implement one or more of those options soon.
Also of note, the AF is compiling a study to present next year that will detail how much longer the E-8s can stay flying. My crystal ball of past performance and common sense says "not much longer".
