The good news is that while life cycle costs have climbed $107B, it's not because of problems this time. The total life cycle of the aircraft has been extended 6 years, or the equivalent of 1.6 million flight hours.
At the same time acquisition costs have continued to drop. The 2014 acquisition cost, in then year dollars, dropped from $391B to $379B. In base 2012 dollars that is a $7B drop.
