After performing the flyover at the Air Force Academy graduation Thunderbirds #6 was forced to set down in an empty field after having engine problems. The pilot ejected safely.
A few hours later, in Smyrna, Tennessee, during solo practice for this weekend a Blue Angels aircraft dove into a field behind several businesses. The pilot didn't get out according to reports.

I can't even imagine the odds of loosing one from both teams on the same day, let alone within hours of each other. Condolences to the family of the fallen Angel.

Reports are that the Thunderbirds took off with less than a full fuel load, being only 10 miles from the Academy, and he ran out of fuel as the address by POTUS went long. They only removed about 100 gallons from the wreck before it was moved. Someone said he called Joker fuel, and was told to use less burner.
