In an interesting move the Liberal Canadian government may sidestep any CF-18 replacement competition by buying Super Hornets as an "interim" replacement, and announcing plans for a formal competition at a later date. This would allow them to buy the Super Hornet, that they've apparently decided is what they need, while avoiding potential legal battles and costly penalties awarded by the courts.
