Oh, I'll bet this makes China all warm and fuzzy inside. It's interesting to see the chess match that the US plays with China in regard to softening tensions to potential allies against China's expansion in the region, unfortunately it comes at the cost of somewhat ignoring Vietnam's human rights violations under its one party communist regime.
I can see Vietnam wanting some of our other surplus gear out of Arizona as well.
Bet they could use some Kiowas too and I wonder if they might be in competition for some AV-8b's with Taiwan or possible A-10's, if we ever retire them and the DoD let those go?

I can see them seriously going after some Hogs if they are ever added to the excess program. They're a lot more likely to need a heavy duty anti tank platform than most other nations would.

On that note, I'm honestly shocked at this point that South Korea hasn't expressed more interest in the 'hog fleet. It seems right up their alley.

They're pretty booked up funding wise for a few years. They've got Vikings coming out of storage, the KF-X, the F-35 (maybe)...
